Seasonal employment

Our team provides full assistance to its corporate clients who want to hire foreigners for their companies in Bulgaria – from preparation of documents necessary to apply for seasonal employment permit to receiving the permit issued.

Foreigners may be hired as seasonal workers for a period of 90 days to 9 months. The application procedures for employers are regulated in Bulgarian Labour Migration and Labour Mobility Act.

Bulgarian employers can contact us for assistance when they want to employ foreigners for positions in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, as well as hotel and restaurant business.

The employer and the employee agree on the position and its specifics, and the employer should provide the National Employment Agency with a set of documents, including an application form, justification of the request, a copy of the employment contract and a job description, a copy of the employee’s passport and other documents.

The employer can submit documents for hiring a foreigner for up to 90 days or up to 9 months. After the new legal changes from May 2024, the foreigner, who is entitled to work in Bulgaria for up to 90 days, can continue to work for the same employer or change him for the duration of the new employment contract, but for no more than 180 consecutive days within each 12 months from the initial registration, without to have to leave the territory of Bulgaria. The permit for up to 9 months is issued for the duration of the employment contract, but not less than 90 days and not more than 9 months within each 12-month period. This type of permit can be extended once within the period of 9 months if the employment contract continues with the same employer or if the employer is changed.
